Here is my current skincare routine and the products I’m enjoying at the moment. I thought it was about time I did an update, as many of the products I’m using have changed recently. My skin is quite normal, with occasional hormonal breakouts, oily moments and dry patches. Skincare is one of those things that adjusts and changes constantly and in many ways that’s a good thing, right? So, let’s jump straight into it.
Amore Pacific – Treatment Cleansing Oil
I can’t say I’m normally the biggest fan of oil cleansers, but here we are. I’ve included this in the morning category but I also use this at night. This one was recommended to me by my wonderful friend Maddie. It has taken a little while to get into the habit of using it but I’m quite enjoying it now. It leaves my face feeling clean and hydrated. There is no feeling of excess product left on the skin which is a huge tick for me. The one drawback is that it needs to be applied to a dry face – if you want to use it in the shower it needs to be applied beforehand. I don’t even put a full pump onto my fingertips (a little goes a long way) and I massage it all over the face. To wash it off I just use copious amounts of water (using my hands) as the oil turns into a milky consistency. It’s handy if you have a face towel nearby to dry off.
Dermalogica – Active Moist
After having used a few different cleansing products from Dermalogica I decided to try their daily moisturiser and haven’t been disappointed. This one is oil-free, lightweight and very hydrating. It works well under make up or an SPF (see below) and is a great all-rounder.
La Roche-Posay – Uvidea XL Melt-in cream
It’s difficult finding the right SPF product that not only does what it should (protect your face from the sun’s UV rays) but genuinely feels nice on the skin. This one is SPF 50, long-lasting, works well underneath make up and a little definitely goes a long way.
Garnier – Micellar Cleansing Water All in 1
This one is pretty straight forward but an essential in the bathroom cabinet. I have tried and tested quite a few products for removing makeup and this one wins by a long shot. It’s affordable (especially when it comes to repurchasing), is quick and convenient to use and genuinely does what the label says: gently removes make up. I just use a cotton pad drenched in the cleansing water.
Sunday Riley – Juno (Essential Face Oil)
Over the years I have tried and tested variations of the evening routine, but I think I’m at a place now where I have learnt that less is more. This product was also recommended to me by Maddie. I will admit that it did take a month or so for my skin to get used to this product. Now? Well, what can I say, it’s perfect. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated and taken care of when I wake up in the morning: a little goes a long way with this oil. To apply it, I squueze not even a full drop of oil onto my fingertips then massage it over my whole face.
